Boutique Wine – Yarra Valley
Vintage 2016
The Yarra Valley experienced a warmer spring than usual, with a resulting drier season, leading to earlier, but even bud burst. The warm weather continued to January which quickened ripening, until steadying up until February and March for harvesting. A strong rain in January was welcomed, giving the vines strength. Smaller yields were in hot demand, offerring exceptional concentration and flavour. Another exciting vintage growing fruit with intense aromatics, balance and strength.

Winemaking
The whole bunch component has fallen into place very well against a back drop of lovely red fruits, fine yet substantial tannins and balanced oak. This is how we would love all our wines to be at this stage of life. Drinking really well now, showing a clear representation of terroir and showing promise of a great future. Matured for 8 months in 11% new and 15% 2nd fill Allier barrels.
Tasting notes
Dead Duck Pinot Noir is everything and anything but dead. Fresh and pretty, with a wicked personality, the Duck is as true and seductive as the gorgeous Yarra Valley itself. Indulgence starts here…
